The client

Steph is a 33 year old Operations Manager with a self-confessed hate of exercise. She struggled to fit workouts in to her schedule and blamed long working hours for her lack of activity. After realising none of her old clothes fit, she decided that it was time to make a change.

The assessment

Steph was referred to me by another client and her initial goal was to lose a stone. She was stuck in a rut and her mentality was holding her back. Steph confessed to me when we first met that she hated exercise but had finally found the confidence to book her first session and confront her fears. I truly believe everyone can love exercise once they discover the benefits it brings and I was determined the root of Steph’s apprehension was under confidence. As with all my clients, we started with a general PARQ and then led onto a thorough and detailed health & nutritional assessment to identify our starting point.

The solution

The first thing to work on with Steph was devising step-by-step goals that challenged her but felt achievable, developing a plan for Steph that was as time effective as possible. Steph started to fill out a food diary to keep her accountable and her training plan included 3 cardio and 2 weight training sessions, designed to burn maximum calories and improve fitness. Over the first few training sessions we worked on building her confidence with different workouts and she soon saw what her body was capable of.

The results

Steph and I have worked together for three years now and she has well exceeded her initial goals. Her personalised plan focused on time effective workouts and nutrition and now healthy habits are ingrained into Steph's everyday life.

I was looking for a PT to help me get into shape with my aim being to lose a stone to fit back into some clothes that I’d been hiding at the back of my wardrobe.

Neil had come highly recommended by a friend so I booked my first session. 3 years later, not only have I achieved all of my original goals, we keep adding new ones! Thanks to Neil’s encouragement, I now enjoy working out not just for the physical benefits but also for the benefits to my mental health and general wellbeing.

Neil is a true professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone!
